Scarlet Dragon fulfilled the immense promise that he showed in last year’s Dovecote Hurdle at Kempton with a spectacular success at Huntingdon on Friday 25th January. Alan King, Wayne Hutchinson and his team must be given great credit for keeping this horse in such good health despite some relatively hard contests on the All Weather recently.
Scarlet Dragon took a big tug in the first half of the race and we owe a lot to Wayne Hutchinson who managed to anchor him without the horse spending too much energy. His jumping was immaculate throughout the race and it was clear turning into the straight that bar an accident there would only be one winner and he flew home.
This race has qualified him for the Champion Novices’ Final at Sandown on Saturday 27th April.
